Coffee with Solomon: Finding Your God-Given Success Pathway
Hey Mighty Woman!
So there I was this morning - still in my PJs, messy bun, coffee in hand - diving into my Bible study on Solomon. And can I just say? Mind. Blown. 🤯 It's pretty much the first thing I do when I get up - get coffee, go straight to my bible.
I've been on this journey trying to understand God's perspective on success and prosperity since late last year, and Solomon's story keeps pulling me in. Solomon wasn't just wise - he was CRAZY successful. Queen Sheba brought him so much gold, I had to look up how long with it take people to mine that amount of gold. Well, it will take a 100 people 21.7 years of continuous daily mining!
So I have to ask, "Lord, what can I learn here for my own life?"
This Silver Thing Changed Everything
So this morning I was looking at Proverbs 2:4 where it talks about seeking wisdom "like silver." At first I was like, "Why not gold?" But here's what I learned.
In Solomon's time, silver wasn't just for the elite or royalty - it was everyday currency! The Hebrew word "kesef" was about something valuable that REGULAR PEOPLE could work for and obtain.
Silver was something that was available to the average person like you and me ❤️
Wisdom - the kind that leads to real prosperity - isn't some mysterious thing only available to a select few. It's available to YOU and ME if we're willing to dig for it like we're mining for something precious!
Solomon's Success Wasn't Magic - It Was Method
The more I dig into Solomon's story, the more I see that his wealth wasn't just a magical blessing that fell from the sky. I almost want to say - it wasn't like he had a ship that "came in one day". But actually he did had loads of ships bringing him gold, so that analogy won't work.
He applied Godly wisdom to everyday practical matters:
He built relationships and trading networks (he was networking before it was even a buzzword)
He valued specialized skill, knowledge and continually learned (1 Kings 4:33)
He made fair decisions that built his reputation (people literally traveled from other countries to consult him!)
He invested in infrastructure that paid off long-term (1 Kings 9:26-28)
Does any of that sound like "spiritual" stuff? Not exactly! But it was all guided by the wisdom he got from God.
Real Talk: How This Applies to Us Today
Here's what I'm learning for my own life, and maybe it'll speak to you too:
When Solomon could have asked God for ANYTHING, he didn't ask for money or fame. He asked for "an understanding heart" (1 Kings 3:9). And then everything else followed!
I've been trying this approach in my own business and life lately:
Starting my day asking for wisdom before chasing the money 💰 to guide every single decision I make.
Treating my relationships as investments, not transactions. I still need to work a lot on this one.
Looking for ways to create value for others (not just myself). How can I package the value I have, and offer it to others?
Actually listening to good advice instead of thinking I know it all (so hard sometimes, especially if you are not surrounded but good, wise counseling)
Serving IN the church. Having a home cell/bible study group is not serving IN church. Serving IN church on a Sunday has completely changed the trajectory of my businesses the past 8 months.
That stress and anxiety about provision? It's melting away as I trust God's wisdom path and look for ways to serve other people.
Let's Do This Journey Together!
I definitely don't have it all figured out - I'm right there in the trenches with you! Some days I still stress and wonder if I'm on the right path. I'm not different than you.
What if we became women who are both spiritually deep AND savvy with our God-given talents?
I'd love to hear what you've been learning in your own journey! What's God showing you about using your gifts? What's holding you back from stepping into bigger things?
Let's make it our mission to uncover, prepare, build and multiply!
